Job Search Verticals - Give Less Choice, Get More CPC Action

Apparently Google is showing fewer ads per page.  Sounds like a smart move to me.  I've always hated long restaurant menus.  In a nutshell, that's what this is about.  Most people prefer a few high quality choices, period.  If this change at Google really materializes in a significant way, it will have a far reaching and profound impact. You can pick up the story here:

Basic research on consumer behavior shows that the more choices you give a customer, the less likely they are to choose anything. An overwhelming number of choices leads to lower overall sales.

Google has realized the same thing applies to its search results page. Show more ads, and people are less likely to click on anything.

For one thing it will make the long tail, low price keywords harder to mine.  Prices are going to rise.  It will protect niche publishers and make it harder for the job search verticals and anyone with national ambitions or anyone for that matter in the employment business to succeed based on cpc advertising. This is a change that will reward quality and place an ever higher premium on good SEO.  This is worth a lot of thought, it's big.
