The Authenticity Award

authenticity awardThe lack of confidence that is behind this historic meltdown is reinforced every time we pay high prices for weak or defective goods and services – and find ourselves without recourse!

Everywhere we turn, we find people in positions of power and trust robbing and looting their very constituencies for personal gain. And, the recruiting industry is no exception.

So, I want to give recognition here and honor those online recruiting and job board professionals that have chosen to stand up for something, make themselves accountable on their websites and move our industry forward.

Specifically, the authenticity badge is for online recruiting leaders who use their names on their websites, who tell their story, make themselves accessible, write a blog and generally raise the level of confidence a notch in our industry. These are leaders who clearly put their heart into their work.

In no special order, here are the authenticity award winners - I will add more as I encounter them:

There are countless entrepreneurs who belong on this list… these are just a handful that I’m familiar with. Moreover, there are even more entrepreneurs who enjoy their privacy but build confidence in our industry just by providing great results every day.

Here’s what Jack Welch said recently about authenticity:

Business leaders can also build trust by connecting with their people. We’re not talking about walking the hallways saying "hi." We’re talking about forging relationships by hanging out where the work gets done, talking and listening, eye-to-eye. They should run frequent and no-holds-barred town meetings.

They should talk about who they are and what they feel, their motives and dreams. The more authentic leader shows himself to be, the stronger the connections. Authenticity feeds trust.

Please help out by sharing examples of authentic recruiting websites in the comments and by avoiding job boards that make groundless claims of industry leadership, without
blogs or online communities, without physical addresses and so on.

Thanks for reading and have a great day!

Eric, It is truly meaningful to be named for your Authenticity Award.

Due to the dastardly deeds of a Bernie Madoff, and many others, confidence is incredibly low. Only through true selfless leadership and innovative vision will we thrive again.

I strive to be one of the leaders that will boost confidence and evolve business.

    Thanks for noticing!
    -Chad

Eric, I know I wrote you personally to thank you, but I wanted to do so on this page as well. As you know, we’ve won a Weddle’s Users Choice Award for 2009, 2008, and 2007. I’m sure our users have voted for us not only because we give them a quality service, but we’re told that we give the best customer support, bar none. We work hard to provide the best support that we can, and then do our best to insure that users have success in using our service. That’s the part that many people forget. It’s not just about making a sale. It’s doing your best to provide a successful experience, which keeps your customers happy and loyal. Sincerely, Ken

I just saw your inclusion of Coolworks.com. I can state from personal experience what a great impact this site has had on many people. I gave up my business to start seasonal work through Coolworks.com. Ten years later I am still doing this lifestyle with passion and gratitude. Bill does make himself available for I have met him in person. Coolworks.com truly deserves everything good that it gets…
