free job boardsfree job board pioneerThe free classifieds and free job boards have fascinated me for years, perhaps because back when I was starting LatPro, the hottest thing around was headhunter.net. It was growing like wildfire and was perfectly free. Times have changed a lot since then and there is a whole new crop of free job boards — here’s the list and a compete.com ranking of the top 5 (roughly speaking):

If you know of any other worthy examples, please leave a comment, thanks!

Hi, very selfishly I would like to introduce my job board workerdog.com. We cater to tech professionals that have an active DoD security clearance… etc

** ejs ** it doesn’t look very free to me. your graphics are obstructing text and you should rename your FAQ page "about us".

Hello all! I encourage you to visit inovahire.com. InovaHire is the first 100% free job board and live interview site for employers AND job seekers. InovaHire operates more like a social network enabling job seekers to truly demonstrate their professional abilities. InovaHire also offers employers and job seekers a list of features currently not offered by companies such as Monster.com, CareerBuilder or Yahoo!HotJobs!

Being an owner of a small business over the past five years, my business partner, and I, had enough with overpriced job posting sites. We decided to step up and do something about it by creating a free career web site. Pooling what little money we had from our other company, we funded a career center web site with all the same great features that other major career websites offer. The Employment Initiative, http://www.EmployInit.com was born with the collaboration of a local web design company and many hours of self-teaching in order to administrate a web site of this nature. With a catchy homepage, http://www.EmployInIt.com has a simple to use platform, a site design with the user in mind and many features for both employers and job seekers. We hope to achieve our one simple goal – one place where employers can post jobs and search resumes with no costs; thus creating more job opportunities under one site for job seekers than any other. Both of us having dealt with the expenses of hiring first hand, understand how difficult it is for companies with limited budgets to post their jobs on a major website. Local job postings costs can start at $300 and rise as high as $1000 and more for major web sites, with even more fees for resume searching. These sites are draining the pockets of the companies that are trying to fuel our dying economy. With the unemployment rate so high, the market is flooded with job seekers. But the bottom line is employers cannot afford these costs. At http://www.EmployInIt.com this problem can finally be solved with just one word….FREE…..! We need your help to get the word out, join our small fight to help our economy .

Just for clarification in case Cheryl was talking about ITp:
ITpinnacle is 100% free for employers and job seekers. Once registered it asks employers to agree to pay one penny but that is purely to trigger an email to me so i can go into the system and make sure they are a legit employer and then I approve them and clear the invoice.

The site has never produced revenue in any way and is not setup to produce any.

Jobs for Karma February 25, 2009 at 3:10 am

Jobs for Karma is a free site designed for people who believe that ‘what goes around comes around.’ As the national unemployment rate continues to rise, many of us either know someone looking for a job, or are looking for a job ourselves. One of the major keys to finding a job is networking to find out about job availability.

Jobs for Karma is a website where you are invited to spread job listings far and wide–all completely free of charge. Everyone – job seekers, recruiters, hiring managers and staffing agencies – is welcome to use this site to post and read job listings.

To post a job, email the job information to JKFwebmaster@gmail.com. The job will be posted for 30 days. Thanks to Google Sites for offering our website hosting for free!

http://WorkOffTheBooks.com has been created to allow those that do have jobs hire others that don’t have jobs and help them out financially for doing odds and end work. The hiring person will rate the individual on how well they did and if they would recommend them to others or use them again. Businesses can search on these people and contact them for interviews as well. It’s brand new and looking for attention.

Does anyone know of a free website for employers that has a lot of sales people looking for a job?
Any job boards for employers that are Insurance industry specific?
We are looking for top commissioned sales people, can be experienced in other industries, who want to earn over $100,000 a year.
Any suggestions as to where to publish our 4 job openings are greatly appreciated.

myfirstpaycheck.com is currently free, but we’re moving towards a pay per post system soon

kelsie May 21, 2008 at 11:07 am

Jobzerk.com is also free to post and sarch, and offers blogging, private messaging, and forums. Was built using open source technologies.

Jacob May 22, 2008 at 11:57 am

Myfirstpaycheck – With 50,000 job boards on the web reaching little to no users and craigslist not charging to post jobs, I would seriously re-think whether you’re revenue model is based around paying to post. Employers dont have to do that anymore.

Doug May 22, 2008 at 5:10 pm

TeleportJobs
http://www.teleportjobs.com is also a free job board. We offer free job posts and free resume search for employers. Employers feel free to post your jobs and tap into this hidden resource.

** es ** guys, you have a lot of work to do  before I can include you in this list.

Cheryl December 11, 2008 at 2:09 pm

I checked several of the entries on your list and they are NOT FREE. Most of them want you to sign up to either view resumes or post jobs, but they don’t tell you until AFTER you register! Not impressive…

**es** which ones Cheryl? I will be happy to update if you let me know specifically… I think you discovered the big downside of free, it’s a time suck!

OddSkills June 30, 2009 at 1:26 am

I thought I’d suggest another free job board OddSkills.com. It launched a few months ago and is already producing a high level of traffic and applicants. The site is 100% FREE and always will be. There are no catches. You can also sign up for resume alerts and all jobs go into the aggregators.

Josh Thomas July 14, 2009 at 4:01 pm

I’d like to recommend GigFish.com. It’s 100% free for both employers and job seekers and has many of the same features the big, pay-to-post sites have.

**es**  well done!

Robin Eads August 25, 2009 at 1:01 pm

Great site! A lot of very useful information for someone running a job board/search engine. :) :)
Perhaps JobShouts.com should be added to your list?

**es** thanks for writing Robin, nice work!

Rich Phillips October 14, 2009 at 5:56 pm

Hello,

I’d like to also point out Get All Jobs, a new gateway to a network of job sites I work with. We have about 15 areas of industries and occupations represented on the site, including some of those mentioned in this comment thread such as Healthcare Support and Personal Care. Any employer wishing to post can submit there job on a simple form at this link here:

http://getalljobs.com/jobPost.html

And we will direct it to the correct site in our network and set up an account for you.

Thanks Eric for the great post on the subject and I invite you to visit us at GetAllJobs.com!

hi
can somebody tell me the Health care job sites where we can post jobs at free of cost and get resumes

Brian October 14, 2009 at 10:41 am

Hi Lana,

The primary focus of Hirespin.com is accounting. Come to the site and register and we will give you your first round of postings for free. We are what Eric terms as a matching job board, our recruiters screen all applicants to your requirements before sending them. If you want every applicant that is not a problem either. Another great feature you get is a full and detailed job seeker profile, not just a resume. Let me know what you need, we are here to help!

Lana October 13, 2009 at 11:39 am

Is anyone aware of posting sites for accounting and finance jobs? I am looking specifically for networking tools for accounts payable/receivable positions that I would like to post. I am looking for free posting or at least sites that do not charge per posting. Thank you!

James September 30, 2009 at 10:52 pm

I’d like to recommend http://www.inerc.com for government jobs. It’s 100% free for both employers and job seekers.

Andrew Leary November 9, 2009 at 5:02 pm

foundcareer.com is 100% free for employers and jobseekers

Joe Hardacre December 30, 2009 at 3:54 pm

Unlimited Job Posting and resume access are free at http://www.FindJobz.com

Our jobs are distributed to others sites that attract over 6 million people per month.

Chris McGarry December 30, 2009 at 6:01 pm

My site is a good resource as well – JobSpider.com.

Kirk January 5, 2010 at 2:29 pm

Does anyone have any ideas of the best free places to post healthcare positions, especially Physical and Occupational therapists?

We have all these great benefits, highly competitive salary, and perks at Alegent Health (www.alegent.com). I just need help finding qualified applicants.

I’d appreciate any suggestions on free job postings for health care or any referrals that can be provided.

Gerald November 1, 2009 at 3:42 pm

InovaHire.com is the Best Free Job Board "hands down." Free to post jobs, free to search resumes. Inovahire.com doesn’t aggregate jobs and resumes from third party sites, they offer free XML job feed uploads, even free to interview live online with a webcam! Also their Job Search Engine and Candidate Search Engine is the most user-friendly that I have used so far. GOOD JOB InovaHire!
