Do job postings want to be free?

Here's an interesting presentation about content distribution by Fred Wilson called “Does Information Want To Be Free?

Free Will Pay

"On the one hand information wants to be expensive, because it's so valuable. The right information in the right place just changes your life” - Stewart Brand

As you read it, think about the fact that the price of job postings have risen steadily for years. Maybe job postings are just advertisements and not content?

Content or advertising? That's the maddening thing about the employment industry - you can never get away from the chicken and egg thing. You're always balancing the needs and interests of jobseekers with those of recruiters. It's more art than science and not prone to explanation or development using pat formulas.

But think about it, when will a high quality free job board arrive?

Hat tip.
