There is something about diversity that makes LatPro as a business track the economy almost perfectly – much better than most other job boards. We started feeling the effects of the recession not when it was announced but rather the moment it actually began and perhaps a full year before other job boards started suffering — not just this time but in the previous recession as well.
So based on a small rise in job counts (including partners) and a significant pickup in sales activity, I’m reasonably comfortable predicting that this month marks the beginning of the recovery and 10 years of growth to come. I expected a deeper recession and thought we would see more job boards failing. In the end, perhaps one of the redeeming features of a job board business is that they have a certain ability to hibernate…
