Job search engine launched 3 1/2 years later!

JustJobs.com job search engine Today is the day we're announcing JustJobs.com and it's precisely three and a half years after the idea was conceived and planning started. That sounds slightly absurd to me but then again, this is a big complex project. There were delays and missteps of all kinds - fortunately, the ones we know about have been ironed out. We have had time right?

In three and half years, the market could have moved on right past us... that's part of the risk of bootstrapping. We started this project back when the VC market was still hot and I toyed with the idea of raising money... but, health issues forced me to give that idea up and so here we are in the slow lane.

You have to have a deep belief in a concept to pursue it for 3+ years just to get to launch! Well, this is the one for me. Nine years of frustration in the job board business turned into one brainstorm. JustJobs.com is what popped out. We have poured our resources into it now since December of 2005.

Yes, timing in business is critical and I would have liked to launch two years ago. Fortunately, I believe JustJobs.com comes along at a good moment and is more relevant than ever. Internet job search is still crowded with dead ends for job seekers. Our mission is to show them a path they can rely on.  And that just might be a timeless opportunity.

Does the world need another job search engine? I'll leave that question to the pundits - my personal mission is to create value for JustJobs.com users and partners. Creating value in new ways, reliably and steadfastly is our strategy for integrating JustJobs into the elaborate job search ecosystem.

Our slow motion launch has required a significant sacrifice from the LatPro team coming as it does in the middle of this recruiting deep-freeze. Their dedication and loyalty has been inspiring - and the teamwork a beautiful silver lining to keep us going through these hard times.  Thank you team LatPro!!

Eric, 1) Where are you getting the jobs that you include into JustJobs.com index? 2) What do you do to make it better than Indeed.com/Simplyhired.com?

**es** hi Dennis, they come from our partners and on the whole, who am I to judge whether we are better? I'd say we are just different. It will take a whole lot more time and resources to be better.

Eric: You have been officially diagnosed as a "job-board-aholic". Congrats to you and the team. This is great news. I know this is a lot of work to take on over a long time period. It must be very exciting to show your new baby to the world for the first time. Good luck with it.

**es** thank you Larry, it is exciting and a little tumultuous - it generates lots  of additional work, lol.

Hello, Eric. I'm a long time fan of internetinc.com. Congratulations on JustJobs.com. Nice work and here's wishing you the very best of luck! I've been following the blogs on your site for quite a while. I want to introduce you to two brand new sites, based on a group patent pending technologies. They are: www.PreVerify.com - and http://hiring.PreVerify.com. The first site - www.PreVerify.com - allows anyone to obtain their own employment verification and a personal recommendation directly from a former or current employer - and to share it with only the people to whom the user gives permission. Keep up the excellent work.

**es** that's an interesting idea Michael!

Crystal (not verified) - New Website getting ready to launch

Hi Eric! Congrats on your new launch!!! Can I ask you a couple of questions? 1) For a new job site how do you get employers to post jobs when there are no resumes in the database? 2) I do have a query to pull resumes from online and put them into my resume database, so that when I approach the employers to post their jobs on my site, there will be resumes already in the database for them to review. Is that a safe alternative?

**es** you work like the devil! can't really comment on safety, that's something you have to decide for yourself.

Very thoughtful and noteworthy comments! I agree that if you're going to take a step back, be sure you would be working in a collegial environment that can allow you to feel good about the job. That can be more important than any pay cut or backward step Sara find attorney
